Bernie Bokenyi

Bernie Bokenyi currently serves as the Strategic Partner Manager for Captello. As the industry leader in Universal Lead Capture and Gamification, Captello specializes in software solutions for the events industry and beyond.

Bernie has been in the events industry for eight years. Previously he organized educational conferences for the IT industry and grew audiences in markets all around the United States. He developed an online model of the firm’s conferences during the pandemic that kept the business afloat.

Before his time in the events industry, Bernie spent over 15 years in the broadcasting industry. He held every position imaginable on sports talk radio. Starting off as a producer and board operator, he spent many years covering sporting events, hosting radio shows, and eventually rising to the ranks of Program Director. As Program Director of KXTG in Portland, Oregon, he doubled key ratings demographics for the coveted Male 25-54 audience. Bernie began his radio career in his hometown of Cleveland. He also spent five years in Chicago at Sporting News Radio. Bernie has covered sporting events at Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Lambeau Field, Ohio Stadium, Stanford Stadium, and beyond.

Bernie and his wife Jen live in Cleveland. They enjoy traveling to new college football stadiums and spending time with their pug, Gus.

While many of us enjoy the interaction, community, and networking offered by any business conference, trade show, or other events – we’re not usually philanthropic intentionally. Even gatherings organized by non-profits serve to drive funding, either via paid sponsorships, registration fees, or other means.  There are obvious challenges when it comes to virtual events; but at the same time, savvy conference organizers have driven income and will continue to do so.
